You deserve a tireless Champion of the People: Someone who won’t sacrifice your values, ideals, and freedoms to grow the bureaucracy or serve the interests of the few. A Champion, who rejects the divisive rhetoric of the angry, hateful and bitter – and is instead dedicated to solving the real problems of our community. I will not waste energy and time fighting ideological battles – I plan to represent our community in a spirit of service and will dedicate myself to keeping it healthy.
We, who love our Southwest Minneapolis, have chosen to live here because of its many unique qualities. New challenges to its vitality now require new approaches to leadership. I am running for office to promote
Independent small business owners, who have blessed our community with the diverse businesses that create its unique livability, now find themselves under more strain than ever before. They need a Champion at the legislature to help them survive and thrive.
Violent crime has intruded on our lives locally in recent years. This problem threatens the quality of life of our residents and the comfort of visitors that are essential for the health of our businesses. I will work hard on this issue to help make the violent crimes we have recently experienced a fading memory.
The health of our school system continues to raise concerns. While Minnesota as a state ranks high in the nation, the latest surveys have scored some of our local public schools below the state average in math and science proficiency. Our children deserve better, and I will commit to reenergize public education, by encouraging incentives for performance, and introducing healthy competition, to make our schools more dynamic and results-oriented.
The word Change has been tossed around a lot in politics this year. But what makes a change for the better? I believe in the kind of Change that empowers the individual over the bureaucracy; a Change that sets aside the concerns of a few special interests and favors the interests of the broader community; a Change that favors opportunity over entitlement; Change that will help our beloved community become more vibrant that ever.
E. Pluribus Unum: From the Many One – This has long been our national ideal and this principle should be reenergized once again. Instead of being Balkanized by ideological rhetoric and special interests - we should stand together on the issues that matter most in our community. Stand with one of your own, who is willing to do what is RIGHT for you, at whatever cost. I humbly ask you for your trust and support, to become your tireless Champion at the State Legislature.
